Natural nephrite jade · Untreated · Made in China

Cut from natural stone, no two pieces are alike: colour and grain vary from piece to piece, and your piece will differ slightly from the photographs.

A kite of white nephrite jade, cut full, its face a shallow dome, hangs point-down from an open kite-frame of 18K yellow gold that repeats the stone's outline in a single line. Stone below, frame above: the solid and the open swing together, a point of light traveling the dome as it moves. Untreated nephrite jade, stones 14.7 × 16 × 6 mm. One of a kind.

FAQ

Nephrite or jadeite? Both are jade, and both are exceptionally tough. Nephrite is the tougher of the two, with a softer, quieter luster; jadeite is harder and glassier. Natural nephrite jade is the principal stone in every JIE JIANG piece; where a piece also carries jadeite, its product page says so. The species is written on the tag; an NGTC certificate (China's National Gemstone Testing Center) is available on request for any piece, and a GIA identification report for high-value pieces.

Does it change with wear? Physically, a little: nephrite is very tough but not scratch-proof, so years of daily wear can leave fine surface marks. It does not fade or change colour.

Water and sweat? Fine for hand-washing and rain. Take it off for pools, hot tubs and sport: chlorine and sweat wear on silk thread and metal findings rather than on the stone. Dry it before storing.
