A bangle and a ring in 925 sterling silver, each centred on a green heart of cat's-eye nephrite jade held in silver claws, a line of light crossing the stone as the piece turns. On the bangle, which opens at a joint in the hoop, the heart sits where grooved silver strands sweep in from both sides; on the ring it is set crosswise above a split shank of the same grooved strands; inside, both carry a lattice pattern. Untreated nephrite jade, bangle inner diameter 57 mm with a 14.9 × 19 × 9 mm heart, 25.3 g; ring US size 6.75 with a 16.8 × 10.3 × 6.3 mm heart, 6.4 g. Sold as a set. One of a kind.

Bangle sizes are inner diameters. Bring thumb and little finger together and measure around the widest part of your hand, then match it in the size guide. Between sizes, take the larger.

Nephrite or jadeite? Both are jade, and both are exceptionally tough. Nephrite is the tougher of the two, with a softer, quieter luster; jadeite is harder and glassier. Natural nephrite jade is the principal stone in every JIE JIANG piece; where a piece also carries jadeite, its product page says so. The species is written on the tag, and for high-value pieces a GIA identification report is available on request.

Does it change with wear? Physically, a little: nephrite is very tough but not scratch-proof, so years of daily wear can leave fine surface marks. It does not fade or change colour.

Water and sweat? Fine for hand-washing and rain. Take it off for pools, hot tubs and sport: chlorine and sweat wear on silk thread and metal findings rather than on the stone. Dry it before storing.
